Key highlights
Basic information
The subject of the sale is a 100% stake in a construction company based in the Pardubice Region, specialising in natural stone paving, stonemasonry and transport and water infrastructure. It lays all types of natural stone paving, and a large part of its work is the restoration of historic paving in town centres. It increasingly also builds bridges and culverts, retaining walls, stabilises slopes and regulates watercourses.
The company continues the owner’s family stonemasonry business and has been operating for more than 30 years. Over that time it has built up references across the Czech Republic – town squares and historic centres, listed buildings including major national monuments, chateaux, churches, bridges and watercourse works. Besides construction work, it also offers direct sales of stone materials, i.e. paving setts, slabs, kerbs and stone elements for interiors and exteriors.
Roughly 40% of revenue comes from public clients (municipalities, regions, road administrations and state institutions), for whom the company acts as general contractor. About 30% comes from subcontracting for large construction companies and the rest from private customers, typically landscaping around family houses. The company wins work through public tenders, long-standing business partners and referrals.
The company has no bank loans or leases and has been profitable in recent years, with the exception of 2024, which was burdened by one-off costs after a flood hit water construction projects in progress. This year is weaker, as funding for repairs of second- and third-class roads was cut in the first half of the year, and the company expects revenue of around CZK 20 million. It is now, however, fully booked, has CZK 11 million of contracts signed for 2027 and is negotiating roughly CZK 10 million more.
The company has 9 employees and owns equipment with a market value of around CZK 4 million, from wheel loaders through a truck with a hydraulic crane to passenger cars. Its headquarters and warehouses are leased, and the landlord is prepared to continue the lease after the sale. The reason for the sale is the owner’s retirement. He is no longer involved in day-to-day operations and the company runs without him; projects are managed by the head site manager, who stays with the company, and an experienced administrator handles tender documentation. The owner will help with the handover.
The main strength is the narrow specialisation in natural stone and historic paving, where competition is limited, together with references from public contracts, without which new companies cannot enter many tenders. Opportunities include a return of road repair funding to previous levels, growth of direct stone sales and better use of the warehouses. The ideal buyer is a construction company in transport infrastructure, a stone processor or trader looking to expand in the Czech Republic, or a company that needs references for public tenders.
